Yannick Agui staff profile

Please tell us a bit about your background and what brought you to CHAI.

I am a humanitarian and healthcare logistics specialist. Before joining CHAI, I had various positions with ministries of health in West Africa, specifically in Cote d’Ivoire and Benin. I have also worked for nonprofit organizations in the region.

1. What does a typical day at CHAI look like for you?

Before COVID-19, I used to meet the team in person daily to review the progress on the tasks on our work plan. Now we conduct most meetings online. I then spend the rest of the day working on my to-do list. However, I always have to be flexible to respond and align my work with any requests from our key stakeholders, which are mainly the government agencies we work with.

2. What is the best thing about your job?

When working with key stakeholders such as the government, we often face technical or programmatic challenges – resolving these issues gives me a great sense of happiness. I appreciate the fact that our work saves lives, and strengthens health service delivery at all levels of care.

3. What is one of your proudest moments working at CHAI?

Helping in the development and implementation of the scorecard tool, which provides visibility into supply chain management at all tiers – from the ministry of health down to health facilities in the districts. I am especially proud that the government has taken ownership of the tool all the way up to the national level.

4. What is the biggest learning experience you have had at CHAI?

Since working at CHAI, I have developed additional skills in data science, project management, and communication. I also enjoy learning from my colleagues on the global and country teams, government, and other partners. I feel like my mind is fed on a daily basis.

5. What motto do you live by?

I was given the gift of life; I have to share it!
